It’s that time again! My annual Fall Wardrobe Essentials post is live with fresh updates for 2025! 🍂 Every year I refresh this reader favorite with new styles and links to what’s currently available. The wardrobe categories don’t change much from year to year, but I do tweak them as trends evolve or as something new starts to feel essential. I love seeing how these foundational pieces take on fresh life each fall—and this year’s lineup might just be my favorite yet. If your closet covers all these categories, you should have everything you need to get dressed each day.

It’s always a good idea to reassess fit and make sure your wardrobe aligns with your lifestyle and current sizes. From there, it’s all about the finishing touches—just add accessories! It’s Fall Break at Belmont, and her birthday is tomorrow, so the timing worked out perfectly. I can’t wait to have a full house again.

What started as a simple post to catalog a few of my favorite fall outfits quickly turned into something bigger – my Fall Capsule Wardrobe. Somewhere along the way I realized I kept reaching for the same pieces on repeat, and as luck would have it, they all worked together pretty darn effortlessly. Fourteen outfits (and counting!) later, it’s safe to say this capsule wardrobe is shaping up to be my favorite one yet. And, now that I’ve finally found a super solid group of trustworthy bottoms, I can mix and match tops and with footwear, depending on the weather (because it was in the 80’s here in... So, whether it’s a graphic tee kind of a day or a cable-knit sweater day, I have a go-to top ready. Add in a pair of chunky brown platform-sole boots, or some tall tan moto boots, or some black mary-jane flats and I am ready for whatever the day throws at me. Fall has always been my favorite season for fashion—it’s the sweet spot where you can layer without sweating, experiment with textures, and actually have fun with accessories. This year, though, it feels even more exciting.
